Mālaʻai Green Smoothie

These delicious smoothies are possibly our students favorite garden snack. Of course because its delicious and after working in the hot sun a cool treat to finish with, is well deserved. It also gives them an opportunity for a workout and understanding mechanics by using a bicycle blender vs an electric one.

Ingredients:

1 cup organic apple juice or orange juice

½ cup water (as needed if it’s too thick)

½ cup yogurt (organic animal or plant based)

1 cup frozen bananas

1 cup frozen berries

4 kale or spinach leaves, washed and de-stemmed and frozen 

¼ cup cooked kalo (makes the smoothie creamy and thick)

Instructions:

  1. Add all ingredients into the blender, in the order listed

  2. Blend until smooth, serve it up and enjoy!

Makes 3-4 servings
